Tillinghast Pond Management Area

As a family we love to be outside and hiking is one of the ways we love to enjoy the world around us. On a random Sunday drive we came across Tillinghast Pond Management Area and it looked very inviting, so we put it on our list to go back and hike. I don’t know about you but we forgot all about it and life went on. Well, I am so happy that we finally remembered!!!!

We took the long way from our home is Voluntown to get there so we could stop at one of our favorite places Ma and Pa’s Country Store in Hope Valley, Rhode Island to grab grinders (My Husband insists they have the best meatball grinder EVER!).

Once we arrived at Tillinghast Pond Management Area we were happy to see that the trails were clearly marked out. It was easy for us to come up with a plan and get to hiking! We settled on doing the Tillinghast Pond Loop and crossing over and doing the Coney Brook Loop.

If you are in the area and love to get out and hike this is a great spot. There are plenty of benches along the way to rest. The trails are well marked to keep you on track and it’s easy to find intersecting trails with out confusion. As you can see in the picture below some of the trails cross with each other. They are clearly marked so if you aren’t an avid hiker and you just want to enjoy a walk in the woods Tillinghast Pond Management Area is a great place to go.

We absolutely loved it and so did the kids! If you are in the area be sure to check it out!

Along the way we came across so great creatures, birds, snakes, turtles and frogs, of course!

Oh, I don’t know how I almost forgot, but the beavers are clearly busy at Tillinghast Pond Management Area!

If you are looking for a nice coastal hike you can check out our adventure to Barn Island in Stonington, Connecticut!
