I’m That Girl

Who am I? I’m a lot of things. Sometimes stepping back and looking at who we are can be eye opening. So many girls today have all kinds of standards that they feel they need to live up to. Guess what, you don’t. I’m that girl. I always did what I wanted and I have always tried to be just me. Here’s the thing though, it’s not that easy and I often find myself looking over my shoulder wondering if I’m doing it right. Yup, I’m that girl…………….

I’m that girl who grew up in a small town.

I’m that girl who couldn’t wait to leave.

I’m that girl who never left.

I’m that girl who went to church every Sunday.

I’m that girl who loves God.

I’m that girl that fell in love when she was 16.

I’m that girl who wanted to have a powerful career.

I’m that girl who said “I do” in a fairy tale dress at 19.

I’m that girl who owned her own business at the age of 20.

I’m that girl who thought she would be a great boss but it turned out she wasn’t so great.

I’m that girl who had her first baby at 21.

I’m that girl who was torn between the working world and staying home to be a wife and a mother.

I’m that girl who chose to stay home.

I’m that girl who has no plans on going back to work just because my kids are in school.

I’m that girl who is worried sick about my children all of the time.

I’m that girl who is a mom of all boys.

I’m that girl who loves to be home.

I’m that girl who loves to see the world.

I’m that girl that loves to get dressed up.

I’m that girl who secretly dreams of singing Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

I’m that girl who is afraid of losing my husband.

I’m that girl who still after 13yrs of marriage still thinks my husband is my best friend.

I’m that girl who wishes she could lose weight.

I’m that girl who loves the city but loves the country more.

I’m that girl who loves her friends like family.

I’m that girl who is often afraid people don’t like me.

I’m that girl who still values tradition.

I’m that girl who has a list of a hundred projects that I will probably never finish.

I’m that girl who loves a good snow storm.

I’m that girl who gets angry quick.

I’m that girl who believes in forgiveness.

I’m that girl who has cried herself to sleep for countless reasons.

I’m that girl who loves football.

I’m that girl who feels like I always fail.

I’m that girl who believes there are things that are right and things that are wrong.

I’m that girl who is afraid to do things because I’m afraid of what others will think.

I’m that girl who wishes we could all live in a world where we just loved each other.

I’m that girl who wishes others would stop pointing fingers and worry about themselves.

Yes, I’m that girl. I love who I am. It’s not always easy but everyday I strive to be better than I was yesterday. Some days it works and other days it fails. We can all relate to each other some way or another. There is a common thread that weaves us all together and if you look you will find it. We are not alone in this journey.

Why are we so afraid of what others will think or say or do? Be you! Who ever that may be. The only eyes I’m worried about are God’s. He is the painter of my life and I’m just his paint brush. I want to be who he says I should be. I want to show others Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self- Control. Embrace your weaknesses, try to do better. We all stumble and we all fall, it’s part of life. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over. When you think you are alone remember there is some one else who is…….that girl…………
