On a chilly spring night, I had plans with a girlfriend to go out for dinner. We try to meet every few months and enjoy a nice night out.
We picked Anya in Thompson, Connecticut.
I suggested a few places and she said “I was actually thinking of trying this place in Thompson, Anya? I’ve heard good things” I was sold! I had also heard good things and had just forgotten about it.
While driving, I was thinking this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. But upon arriving at Anya in Thompson, Connecticut, I was immediately impressed with grounds and the building itself.
It was gorgeous….very impressive…you immediately felt like you were in for an experience.
Opening the heavy glass doors, you are greeted with very chic shag rug that graced the entrance that lead me into the wide open restaurant, the ambiance was strikingly chic, hip and very classy.
I was early and my friend was late *insert laughing* It usually works out that way! So I grabbed a seat at the very busy bar. I had a hard time finding a seat, literally got the only free seat available! I was warmly greeted and offered a food or drink. We had a reservation in the dining room, so I just looked at the cocktail menu.
A cocktail menu is a huge plus in my book.
I like to try new things and never know what to order beside the usual glass of wine. I feel like a lot of restaurants miss out on selling cocktails when they don’t provide a cocktail menu.
Once my friend arrived we got our seat in the dining area. The service was great and the menu was awesome!
I have to say that unfortunately for us it was the last night of their winter menu so they weren’t offering any specials. With that being said, I love that menu changes with the season.
For dinner I got the filet, it was cooked perfect and the mushroom sauce on the side was delicious. The only complaint I had is that they don’t offer a mashed potato or a potato au gratin as a side, they did have steak fries but they don’t really do it for me when ordering a nice meal. I did order the fries because the Irish in me can’t eat a nice steak without potatoes!!
The dessert was amazing! I couldn’t finish it all!
Anya in Thompson, Connecticut offers brunch and dinner, you can dine in their dining room or at the bar, reservations are recommended for the dining room but are not required. They also offer the Rose Garden outdoor lounge! Be sure to follow them on their social media pages to stay up to date on what they are offering!
